It has taken awhile for the exhibit manufacturers to redirect their attention away from the higher end custom segment and to refocus upon the important portable trade show exhibit market with new designs, but the time has come. Over the past year there have been three new portable systems introduced by three independent manufacturers that, at last, truly fall into the category of a portable exhibit.
For most of this decade, the line between portability and more customized exhibit systems has been allowed to fade. New truss exhibit kits have, for instance, been introduced that for all appearances would seem to be portable. Unless one is working with an exhibit company willing to jeopardize a sale by explaining that many of these new systems must pack into larger cases, meaning that they are more expensive to ship, it would be easy to be fooled. If you are in the market for a portable exhibit, make sure that what you are buying is really a portable. What do you need to ask? It is pretty simple. Will this display ship via UPS or Fed-Ex? Can one or two people set up a 10′ display in less than an hour? Just these two questions can save you a lot of heartache, time and money.
